ASME Design Automation Award
The ASME Design Automation Executive Committee invites nominations for the Design Automation Award. The award will be given from time to time, but never more than once each year, to recognize sustained meritorious contributions to research in Design Automation. Nominations can be made by any member of ASME.
The nomination package should include specific details of the nominee's contributions to the area of Design Automation and a critical explanation of why these contributions are significant enough to warrant the award. Special consideration will be given to those applicants with sustained involvement in ASME, ASME Conferences, and/or the Design Automation Conference. A curriculum vitae should also be included for the nominee, along with three letters of recommendation from other researchers in the nominee's field.
For more information about the Design Automation Award, including past recipients of the award, please visit our website at http://cdl.engr.uconn.edu/asmeda/dac/awards.html.
Please send your nomination in a single pdf document to DAC Committee Chair by 5pm EDT, May 13, 2022. Unsuccessful nomination packages can be held for consideration for one additional year. Nominators will be contacted to provide updated curriculum vitaes and nomination letters, and to confirm that the nominee still meets eligibility criteria for the award.
The recipient is selected among the nominees by Design Automation Honors and Awards Technical Subcommittee appointed by the Chair of the Design Automation Executive Committee. The recipient will be given a monetary award and presented with a certificate at the award ceremony, which will be held at the ASME DETC/CIE Conference.

ASME DA Young Investigator Award
The Design Automation Young Investigator Award will be given from time to time, but never more than once each year, to recognize an outstanding young investigator who is making noteworthy contributions in the area of design automation, including but not limited to research in areas represented in DAC sessions in the last five years.
Nominations for this award can be made to the Chair of the Design Automation Executive Committee by any member of ASME. At the nomination deadline, the nominee must (1) be in the early stages of their research career - defined as pre-tenure (having not yet been awarded tenure at the nomination deadline) if in academia, or within the first 7 years of receiving their last degree if not in academia, (2) be a member of ASME, and (3) be in good standing with ASME.
The nomination package should include a cover letter from the nominator (that directly addresses the three criteria above, including date of last degree and/or expected tenure date), the nominee's curriculum vitae, a statement (not to exceed 1000 words) about the nominee's research contributions, and three letters of recommendation. Nominations are encouraged from both academic and non-academic career paths.
Selection will be based on the nominee's research products, participation in DAC, and impact of the nominee’s work. Research products can include published papers, patents, shared data, and research codes. Participation in DAC can include DAC conference papers (or published papers at other, related conferences and journals), serving as a reviewer/session chair/review coordinator, and attending the annual DAC committee meeting. The impact of the nominee’s work can be assessed via breadth of citations of the work, significance of related research proposals and funding, and evidence of strong collaborations and/or working with graduate students.
Unsuccessful nomination packages can be held for consideration for one additional year. Nominators will be contacted to provide updated curriculum vitaes and nomination letters, and to confirm that the nominee still meets eligibility criteria for the award.
The Design Automation Honors and Awards Technical Subcommittee, appointed by the Chair of the Design Automation Executive Committee, selects the recipient among all nominees. Members of this Subcommittee and members of the DAC Executive Committee are not eligible for the award. The recipient will be given a monetary award and presented with a certificate at the award ceremony, which will be held at the ASME DETC/CIE Conference.
